Coaching Toolkit
Inner Critic
Everyone has that voice, often referred to as the inner critic or gremlin. Working together to build awareness around one’s inner critic — who is often judgmental, fearful out of protection, doubtful and catastrophic — is a tool we can utilize to befriend them and gain some of the control back.
The Body
By creating a relationship with our bodies through creativity, movement, food, environment and with nature all around us, we are able to create a deeper sense of presence; and in doing so — a deeper understanding of our needs and desires. Together we can cultivate abundance and foster a willingness to savor moments and engage with the senses.
Direct Communication
Through direct communication, I am able to draw connections that you might like to explore together. Direct communication enables me to make observations and challenge you to reflect, invite new perspectives and gain a sense of curiosity with yourself.
Metaphor
I think of coaching like gardening. You must tend to, not just what is above the soil, but the weeds. You must dig deep and have patience and gentleness in order to get each weed at its root. Creativity is encouraged in my practice. Drawing on metaphors enables clients to look at their situations from new perspectives, heights and places.
Values
Working together to establish core values is essential in the coaching process. Our first session together will often involve a deep dive in getting to know one another by exploring values, needs, and desires for your future. By doing this, you are able to gain a better sense of yourself, feel confident in making decisions and hold yourself accountable.
Goal Setting
By creating manageable, realistic goals — clients are able to see their progress end begin to initiate behavior change. I encourage clients to come up with tools and ideas that will help facilitate growth. Whether through homework assignments, brainstorm sessions or SMART goals, my clients leave sessions with tangible steps to work on.
